Custom Kitchen remodel | Flooring | LIGHTS

Project Scope

Disciple Homes converted the original U-shaped kitchen, with just enough space for one person, into a beautiful and functional space designed for family gatherings and entertaining. Counter space and lack of storage were two of the big issues with the previous kitchen. To open up the space, Andy designed an open concept style with a custom cabinet wall, a double oven, and two islands with storage and electrical. To do this, a door to the office just off the kitchen was relocated to make space for the cabinets and double oven.

A dated sunshine ceiling was removed to return the ceiling to full height. In addition, since the existing overhead cabinets needed to be removed, it was decided to smooth out the ceiling from the existing popcorn style to a modern flat style. The addition of pot lights along the length of the ceiling and decorative pendant lights add beauty and light to the space, and under cabinet lighting further brightens up work areas. The custom cabinets are all soft close with ingenious spice cabinets, recycling and garbage storage. The bottom drawers all pull out so everything is convenient to access; crouching over and digging through cabinets are now a thing of the past for this couple!

The centre island features additional storage with a sliding door perfect for cereal boxes.

The sunken floor in the family room was raised to the level of the kitchen so that entertaining would be seamless. The flooring chosen for this high traffic kitchen is a wood style vinyl because it is a durable product that is easy to clean and water resistant. The Granite countertops are also used in the bay window and storage nook to tie the whole space together.
