Protecting your home from alberta weather

Siding | Soffit | Fascia | Eavestroughing | skylights

Project Scope

Disciple Homes was called to give a quote to replace the siding for this home. Once they arrived, the owners mentioned that their home was very cold in winter. Disciple discovered it had a very low R value (the heat loss resistance rating). To remedy this, all existing siding was removed and rigid insulation plus waterproofing barrier was added before the new siding was installed. Custom cladding was fitted over the windows and doors for additional exterior waterproofing and style.

Eavestroughing, soffit & fascia

The eavestroughs were upgraded to 5” from 4” to handle larger volumes of water runoff. The fascia and soffit were replaced to provide additional protection and curb appeal to the home.

skylights

To brighten up the interior, two skylights were added. This required the Disciple team to cut two openings into the roof to install a curb, ice and water barrier. Then the skylights were set in the opening and the shingles were nailed into place. A metal pan and step flashing provide additional protection to ensure a watertight seal.

Inside the home the framing, insulation, and vapor barrier were finished with drywall and trim, and lastly the interior of the skylight and trim were painted to match the existing paint.
