Home Additions, Wall removal & Engineered beams

One way to increase the value of your property is by simply adding to it. Home additions such as guest bedrooms, ensuites, common rooms, offices, or even a second story are examples of ways our clients have expanded their homes. Our team of remodelers will consult with you and an engineer to design a plan that blends seamlessly with the rest of your property. When done right, a home addition can be a sound investment that also improves your living space.

We will help you come up with a suitable design as we want your home addition to be a success. We handle all the bureaucracy and paperwork that is typically associated with larger projects so you know it will be done right. Disciple Homes & Improvements Inc. will let you know whether your building expansion makes financial and structural sense before construction begins.

Beam installation & Wall Removal

Looking for a more spacious and functional floor plan? Choosing to open up rooms by removing walls adds instant value to the homeowner. It nearly always results in greater home resale value as well as enjoyment of the new space.

Our team will meet with you for an onsite consultation to determine if the walls you wish to remove are load bearing walls. Then we will work with you to design a spacious, functional floor plan. Measurements will be taken to determine the best type of beam to use: a laminated engineered beam or a steel beam. Drawings will then be sent to structural engineers who will determine the size of the beam and ensure that the placement is correct (transferring loads from the end of new beams down to the foundations below) for both inspection and security purposes. Sometimes it is also necessary to enlarge existing footings beneath the support columns to handle the additional load. Each beam is engineered and manufactured specifically for your project.

Our customers are often amazed at how quickly the beam is installed. Often electrical, plumbing, and heat ducts will need to be relocated that are running in the walls you want to remove. You can expect extra cost if this requires electrical, heating, and plumbing contractors to be called in. We secure and manage all electrical, plumbing, heating, building permits, and drawings required for the project. Then there is the cost of finishing the project which includes drywall replacement, respraying textured ceilings, entirely repainting the new space, replacing sections of wood trim, and replacing the finished flooring.

You will appreciate the professionalism and knowledge our skilled team provides. We love helping people add space to their homes. Our clients are amazing people and we want them to have a wonderful experience from the day we first meet to the completion of their project.
